About

Erin Petti

Erin Petti is an author and creative writing instructor based in Massachusetts. She has collaborated with schools and public libraries across the state to help hundreds of young authors find their creative voices. Erin earned her MAT from Simmons College, her BA in Writing, Literature, and Publishing from Emerson College, and is certified at the 500 hour level to teach yoga and mindfulness to students of all ages.

Library and Community Programs

It's my honor to partner with local librarians and community leaders to bring customized multi-week Write Your Own Book programs to children and communities around Massachusetts. Observing the increase in confidence, agency, and creativity that our young authors experience is truly the most incredible part of this job.

Each year this creative writing community grows! Please reach out to learn if we have a public program in your town.

Author Visits and Workshops for Schools

Author visit
Author workshop

Designed for schools, my Write Your Own Story workshop challenges students to create their own heroes, monsters, and explore the vital question: What makes a good story? By the end they are on their way to building a world of their own. This hour-long class session is designed to spark inspiration and creativity.

Workshop

Beginning in November 2024 I will be offering small group fiction workshops for adult writers.

The first workshop series is already full, but if you are interested in joining this virtual coven of awesomeness, send me a note to stay in the loop for our January 2025 session.

Our program was a huge success thanks to Erin! She was energetic and imaginative and always ready to figure out the best way to work with every child in the group. Erin has the most wonderfully enthusiastic approach to every class and child. I am so glad that I found her!

Wendy Gardner-Breindel

Head of Youth Services

Ventress Memorial Library

My daughter found a safe place to be herself and she created an awesome book, including illustrating the cover. This program truly meant so much to her, and our family! She found that she has a voice, she can shine, and she can "do things" like other kids her age. We still have the book on display - and we always will!

Erin’s workshops always inspire kids to step into their imaginations and start writing their stories! She’s patient and kind with each attendee, ready to encourage and make the hour a positive experience that will stick with our young patrons for a long time.

Being unable to read or write independently due to medical issues is usually a huge roadblock but this class helped him see that he can create wonderful stories despite his challenges.

Melanie, parent, Townsend. MA

[My child] LOVED this program and loved working with Erin. She was wonderful with the kids and her positive attitude was perfect for the role! I hope to see her back soon to work with the kids more!

Parent, Marshfield, MA

The students were fully engaged and eager to share their ideas with Erin. They couldn't wait to dive into their writing and wanted to continue even after she left! Erin's passion for writing is contagious and inspirational. Every student felt empowered and motivated to write!

...his confidence has soared and his focus has improved; where as before he struggled reading and wasn’t interested in writing at all.

Parent, Marshfield, MA

My students and I loved the presentation! Erin was very personable and the kids fed off her energy.
